The world famous `Peacock Throne` was kept in the Diwan-i-An of the Red Fort at Delhi. The Red Fort is a historic fort complex located in Delhi, India, which served as the main residence of the Mughal emperors for nearly 200 years. The Diwan-i-An (Hall of Public Audience) was a large courtyard within the Red Fort where the emperor would hold public meetings and address his courtiers and subjects. The Peacock Throne, also known as Takht-i-Taus, was a magnificent jeweled throne commissioned by Emperor Shah Jahan, which was adorned with precious gems and had the shape of a peacock with spread-out feathers. It was considered one of the most iconic and valuable thrones in history.
