Iron is the metal that does not form amalgams.

Amalgams are alloys formed by the combination of mercury with other metals. Mercury has a strong affinity for many metals and can form solid or liquid amalgams with them.

Zinc, copper, and magnesium are metals that can form amalgams with mercury. However, iron does not readily form amalgams with mercury. Iron has a low affinity for mercury and does not undergo the necessary chemical reactions to form stable amalgams.
