Agenda 21 is indeed a global action plan for sustainable development, which validates statement 1 and makes option 1 correct. This agenda provides a comprehensive blueprint of action to be taken globally, nationally and locally by organizations of the UN, governments, and major groups in every area where humans directly affect the environment. However, statement 2 is incorrect as Agenda 21 was not launched at the World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg in 2002. Rather, its origin dates back to the Rio Earth Summit in 1992. Hence, option 2, option 3 which suggests both statements are correct, and option 4 that suggests neither of the statements are correct are inaccurate.
