The Congress Radio was an underground radio station that was used to broadcast messages of the Indian National Congress and inspire the people to join the freedom struggle against the British. Usha Mehta played a pivotal role in setting up and running this radio station, which operated from a secret location in Bombay (now Mumbai) from 1942 to 1944. The broadcasts were made in various Indian languages, and the station was a major source of news and inspiration for people all over India during the freedom struggle. Usha Mehta was later awarded the Padma Vibhushan, one of India`s highest civilian honors, for her contribution to the Indian freedom struggle.
