The ideal of the "Welfare State" in the Indian Constitution is primarily enshrined in its Directive Principles of State Policy. The Directive Principles of State Policy (Part IV of the Indian Constitution) provide guidelines and principles for the government to promote the welfare of the people and achieve social justice. These principles cover various aspects of a welfare state, including social, economic, and political rights, equitable distribution of resources, protection of vulnerable sections of society, and promotion of social welfare programs. While the Preamble and Fundamental Rights also reflect the objective of a welfare state, the Directive Principles specifically outline the principles and policies to be followed by the state in order to achieve the goal of social and economic justice for all citizens.
